- It's gone! Was 23 April 2005
- Has your world gone wedding mad?
- It did a little - I was overwhelmed by the cost of the average wedding (around £17k at the time) and all the frills and flounces you were 'supposed to have' to celebrate your wedding. This led me down the ethical wedding route - trying to choose products and services that could make a difference in some way. And give everyone something to celebrate!
- What do you think makes an authentic wedding?
- For me it's about really taking the time to think about what you are doing and why you're doing it. What do the different elements of the day , of the ceremony mean to you? If there's some tradition that doesn't actually mean a thing to you, ditch it (with tact if it's important to your in-laws!).
Keep talking to your partner all the way through the planning and share all the decisions so that it really is your day about the start of your life together as a married couple... and not just a little girl's daydream.

Overwhelmed by weddings
I left the National Wedding Show last week - at which I tried but failed to talk convincingly on flower colour schemes and how to hold your bouquet - with mixed feelings.
